World We Imagine Part 1
Reading this quote from The Blue Sweater reminded me of the power of the individual. We as individuals in society have so much more power than we give ourselves credit for when it comes to the impact our choices can have. I struggle with this idea often contemplating how my actions could have any kind of impact on the greater good of society. However, once I found a passion that made a difference in the world, everything started to click for me.
My first step in making the world a better place is recognizing the power that I have to do so. You do not have to be a part of a large company or organization to create a positive change in this world. My experience working with animals has shown me just that as I have been able to change the life trajectory of multiple living things. For the last two years, I have been rescuing animals off the streets and fostering them in my free time, and it has become the most fulfilling thing I have ever done. By making the choice to rescue an animal, you are making the choice to change their entire life trajectory. Animals on the street often have their chance at life stripped away from them. When you rescue a dog, you're giving that dog a chance to be loved and live a long happy life and you're giving a family the chance to add that love into their family as well.
My dream is to make the world a better place for dogs. I am already starting to pursue this dream now, but I intend to make it more of a priority when I graduate. My final capstone project for my major actually involves this dream as well, and I have stated that I intend to keep this project going well past my graduation. This final project is an initiative I am starting to pair emerging musicians with adoptable dogs in order to boost adoption rates and foster another method of growth for up and coming artists. Between this initiative, and my considered desire to foster and rescue, I will pursue my dream of making the world a better place for dogs.
Hi Alyssa!
ReplyDeleteThis warms my heart to read. I am an animal lover and rescue dog owner myself! I can't stand to see all the poor dogs ending up in shelters or being mistreated. I love your mission here and hope you are able to continue spreading this attitude out into the world.

Hi Alyssa,
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of pairing emerging musicians with adoptable dogs. I get so sad thinking about the breeding industry because there are so many dogs in shelters who would make amazing pets. I think having musicians put a spotlight on these deserving animals can help deter the demand for breeders and encourage more people to adopt. It’s such a creative way to bring attention to an issue that really matters, and it benefits both the artists and the animals. Great idea!
Hi Alyssa!
ReplyDeleteReading about your work with rescue dogs honestly made me smile :) It’s so obvious how much love and effort you’ve put into helping them. The project you’re creating with musicians is such a unique way to bring more attention to animals who really need it, and it feels like something that could make a real difference. I hope you keep running with this dream, because you’re already doing something really meaningful!!
